We are seeking a Senior/Principal Offshore Structural Engineer with specialist knowledge of concrete and hybrid offshore foundation structures to join our Civil & Structures team. As part of the wider central engineering function, you will support the RWE Offshore Wind business across all stages of the project lifecycle—from early development through design, construction, and operations.

About the role:

  • Manage structural engineering activities for concrete and hybrid offshore foundations across pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design, and through fabrication and installation.
  • Develop and enhance design processes, Employer’s Requirements, and best-practice procedures for concrete substructures.
  • Provide technical leadership in contractor selection, design verification, design reviews, and supplier documentation assessments.
  • Promote cost optimisation, innovation, and technology development to improve foundation performance and reduce LCoE.
  • Support procurement, quality, HSSE, and bid evaluation activities.
  • Guide Structural Health Monitoring strategies and assess the performance of existing foundation structures.
  • Ensure effective technical integration with interfaces such as T&I, WTG, and geotechnical engineering.
  • Capture lessons learned and embed improvements into future projects and internal modelling tools.
  • Represent the organisation as a technical expert in industry groups and joint research programmes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Coordinate with global multidisciplinary teams and contribute to internal capability development.

Role requirements and experience:

  • Degree in civil or structural engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience in offshore structural engineering—ideally involving gravity-based structures, monopiles, or jackets.
  • Project management experience in offshore design, construction, or operations.
  • Solid technical skills in concrete and structural design, relevant standards, and verification processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party designers and engineering service providers.
  • Understanding of technical risks, project interfaces, and offshore delivery frameworks.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams (fluent English).
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.
  • An appreciation of HSE regulations, safe systems of work, and environmental requirements.
  • Skilled in coordination and leadership; motivated, composed, and resourceful.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet time, cost, and quality targets.

Advantageous, but not essential:

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional status.
  • Knowledge of quality management, procurement processes, and offshore installation/operations.

An offer of employment in this role may require holding active or ability to pass National Security vetting to SC level. Failure to obtain and or maintain National Security Vetting to SC may result in the removal of job offers and or existing employment.

We value diversity and therefore welcome all applications — regardless of gender, disability, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, age, sexual orientation, and identity. Inclusion matters.
