Wind Turbine Technician Apprenticeship – London Array Windfarm
Join RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd to begin a career in renewable energy as a Wind Turbine Technician Apprentice. This 3‑year apprenticeship will develop you into a technician working on wind turbines. The first two years are classroom based at IPS International in Rochester, followed by on‑site training at London Array Offshore Wind Farm, Ramsgate.
About The Role
We will provide a comprehensive learning programme that includes classroom-based learning and on‑site experience. Completing the apprenticeship will award an NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician).
Responsibilities
- Electro/Mechanical problem solving on wind turbines, working in small teams at height in remote locations. Use user manuals as reference.
- Operate advanced mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment safely.
- Plan in advance the tools, spares and materials required for each job.
- Fault find and diagnose wind turbine main component condition to determine if site repair is possible or if the unit requires exchange.
- Develop into a multi‑skilled technician covering all aspects of inspection, maintenance and repair of wind turbines.
Candidate Requirements
- 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at 4/C or above including Science, Maths and English.
- Willing to learn and develop – interest in engineering.
- Able to work at height, at sea and on shifts.
- Must live within an hour of the site.
- Willing to work standby or on call.

- Assessment Centre: 23 April 2026.
- Start date: August 2026.
Accommodation and Travel
Accommodation will be provided during term time for the first two years, with travel expenses for two journeys per month between the Ramsgate area and the term‑time address. Term‑time accommodation will be paid by RWE. Commuting to college each day will also be paid unless group travel is provided. During term time there will be a weekly set allowance for food and drink while away from home.
Holidays
25 days (to be taken outside of term time), plus public holidays.
