Offshore Wind Turbine Technician – Workington, Cumbria

Right now, we’re looking for a talented, experienced Technician to help maintain our Robin Rigg offshore wind farm. As part of a small team you’ll travel out by boat to carry out regular maintenance work on our offshore wind turbines. Your aim will be to minimise faults and maximise our energy yield by carrying out both proactive and reactive maintenance operations, as well as servicing, inspections, modifications and retrofits.

The Role:

  • Carry out maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and balance of plant, including servicing, reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, modifications, retrofits and main component exchanges. The successful applicant is expected to become an Authorised Technician under Wind Turbine Safety rules to fulfil this part of the role and lead teams under their supervision
  • \\n

  • Carry out maintenance on the Wind Turbine High Voltage system up to and including 33,000V. The successful applicant is expected to become a Senior Authorised Person under Electrical and Mechanical Safety rules to fulfil this part of the role and lead teams under their supervision
  • \\n

  • Work in a small team with minimal supervision
  • \\n

  • Work proactively and flexibly to minimise failures and maximise the Energy Yield
  • \\n

  • Utilise SCADA systems and other computer-based systems to interrogate turbines, reset faults, instigate maintenance activities and build up fault/failure histories
  • \\n

  • Be prepared to have a flexible approach to working hours around the weather and workload, to be on call outside normal working hours and open to travel to other sites within the fleet
  • \\n

  • Maintain maintenance records, electronic and paper, of all work performed on plant
  • \\n

  • Proactively assist in all areas of site operations, working on projects, spares and other non-routine works
  • \\n

  • Support Site Improvement Projects Processes

Role Requirements:

\\n

    \\n
  • A full apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical discipline
  • \\n

  • HNC in an electrical or mechanical discipline
  • \\n

  • Experienced in High Voltage Equipment up to 33kV
  • \\n

  • Grade 4 (C on the older grading system) or above in five subjects at GCSE including English and Mathematics
  • \\n

  • Significant experience in maintaining electrical, mechanical or rotating assets
  • \\n

  • Qualified in First Aid at Work, Working at Heights / Tower Rescue, offshore survival & offshore medical
  • \\n

  • A competent slinger and banksman
  • \\n

  • Familiarity with Turbine Supervisory Control and Data Systems (SCADA)
  • \\n

  • A sound understanding of troubleshooting, maintenance and fundamental mechanical/electrical principles
  • \\n

  • The fitness and stamina to work at height in an offshore environment
  • \\n

  • A full UK driving licence
  • \\n

The person recruited will be expected to join the current shift working pattern which is seven days working and seven days off. 10.5 hours per day and includes every other weekend.
