To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent. Role will be based at our Bradwell Wind Farm (Essex). Candidates should be a maximum of 1 hour commute from this location.
The Wind Turbine Technician is responsible with others, to provide maintenance, servicing and inspection of wind turbines and balance of plant, to ensure the assets are maintained in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner, maximising the commercial value within compliant requirements.
About the role:
- Carry out maintenance and servicing of wind turbines and balance of plant, including servicing, reactive and proactive maintenance, inspections, modifications, retrofits and main component exchanges.
- Fault finding on complex Mechanical, electrical and Hydraulic systems.
- Work in a small team with minimal supervision.
- Work proactively and flexibly to minimise failures and maximise the Energy Yield.
- Utilise SCADA systems and other computer based systems to interrogate turbines, to reset faults, to instigate maintenance activities and build up a fault/failure history.
- Be prepared to have a flexible approach to working hours around the weather and workload, to be on call outside normal working hours and flexible to travel potentially to other sites.
- Maintain maintenance records, electronic and paper, of all work performed on plant.
- Proactively assist in all areas of site operations, working on projects, spares and other non-routine works.
- Adhere to the Companies HSSE Management system.
- Proactively identify & take ownership of tasks or projects to improve safety, turbine performance or general working.
Job requirements and experience:
- Qualified to HNC, ONC or NVQ level in a related mechanical/electrical discipline.
- Proven Heavy Industry electrical/mechanical maintenance background, related to O&M.
- Demonstrated advanced use of complex power tools such as hydraulic rams, inductive heaters and diagnostic tools (e.g. advance fluke meter functions, VOB data collection).
- A sound understanding of HSSE systems, to establish a safe work environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong desire and commitment to performance.
- Experienced in mechanical, electrical, power electronics and hydraulic trouble shooting and maintenance activities.
- Have a proven ability to troubleshoot on complex systems.
- Ability to work effectively within a small team with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to travel in some special cases to support other onshore sites.
- First Aid at Work, Working at Heights Training / Tower Rescue.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Strong ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics to develop procedures, validate work activity and ensure that risks are identified and mitigated.
- Good communications skills written and verbal.
- Flexible to be a part of a weekend/bank holiday on call rota.
Advantageous, but not essential:
- Prior experience of renewable energy projects.
- Experience in wind turbine maintenance/servicing and fault finding.
- Heavy industry experience will be taken into consideration.
- Competent slinger and banksman.
- Basic computer operation skills, familiarity with internet based program navigation, and ability to generate and interpret computer data.
