In alignment with Corporate Head of International and Finance Media Relations, provide strategic advice and support for Executive Board members (Group and Operating Companies and senior managers on the approach, timing and positioning of media engagement and communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage RWE’s proactive and reactive media presence in international financial and UK media through building reliable and trusted relationships with journalists from key international financial and UK national media, to position RWE on global corporate and UK business issues.
  • Actively and reactively manage RWE’s presence in international finance and UK media through building-up reliable and trusted relationships with journalists from key international finance and UK national media to position RWE on global corporate and UK business issues.
  • Develop and implement communications concepts to actively position RWE and its business activities in relevant media by consistent, target-oriented, suitable messaging towards all stakeholders with a focus on global corporate as well as UK dossiers.
  • Position RWE’s global and UK leaders in relevant media through targeted thought leadership, interviews and strategic media engagement.
  • Draft and edit press releases, statements, speeches, thought leadership articles and expert commentary, translating complex political, economic and energy‑related topics into clear messages for different audiences.
  • Plan, organise, implement and support press conferences and press events as well as organise, prepare and support interviews with executives and other company experts.
  • Respond to media enquiries from international and UK national media on RWE’s global and UK business activities and monitor media, send media alerts to management, prepare and align appropriate reactive statements at short notice.
  • Job Requirements and Experience
  • Degree in a relevant discipline, such as economics, journalism, media, communication, business administration, political science, law or a related field.
  • Ideally ten years of experience in media relations and as a press spokesperson with a proven track record of delivering results with a strong network across the international, London-based and UK media.
  • A good awareness of the full range of media channels, including social and digital media, is highly valuable.
  • Proven experience to manage complex projects with many different stakeholders.
  • Accomplished communicator, with the ability to translate complex material into clear, accessible messages for different audiences with broad understanding of social, economic and political developments relevant to RWE’s global and UK business.
  • An excellent understanding of an integrated Communications and Public Affairs approach across all communications disciplines (Media Relations, Government Relations, Digital Communication, Internal Communications and Public Relations).
  • Experience of working closely with senior company representatives, providing confident and competent expert guidance and support in media and communications matters.
