The role of a Lead Expert Installation Logistics - Cables serves as specialist for all relevant technical aspects, including key recommendations and escalations, in relation to Installation Logistics for Offshore Cables, including landfall transition, with strong business and stakeholder orientation.

The Lead Expert strives to share best practice and consistency of approach across regional teams in relation to Installation Logistics - Cables, focusing on LCOE optimisation, interface topics with other packages such as Cable Protection, Structures and Electrical, installation logistics strategy, operational efficiency, technical risk management and management of employer’s technical requirements, whilst pursuing state of the art technical solutions and innovation to ensure that the strategy meets business needs.

About the role

Technical Advice

  • Acts as key advisor to the Chief Engineer Offshore Civil, Structures & Logistics and the Engineering Management team for all relevant technical decisions related to the above-mentioned subject matter.
  • Drives networking and cross-fertilisation across regions and technologies in their subject matter of expertise, fostering a global technical Installation Logistics - Cables community, sharing best practice and consistency of approach with an eye on optimisation and sustainability.
  • Establishes and approves global technical standards, specifications and procedures for the discipline Installation Logistics - Cables in line with safety and business needs, strategic targets and the industry’s latest technical developments.
  • Participates in or leads significant and complex international projects of high risk, as well as global technology initiatives related to the expert subject matter.
  • Develops and approves Installation Logistics - Cables activities and related technical aspects in accordance with delegated authority.
  • Provides engineering support to projects throughout the lifecycle chain as required.
  • Competency development, strategy formation, innovation and standardisation:
  • Specialist for the discipline Installation Logistics - Cables with global accountability for maintaining and growing technical competence in line with safety and business needs, strategic targets and the industry’s latest technical developments.
  • Aligns the Installation Logistics - Cables content across regional and local requirements, while maintaining oversight of the global and local document structure and related needs.

Approves global technical documents for the core discipline.

  • Retains oversight of innovation projects for the core discipline, leads prioritisation and evaluation of these projects, and supports implementation across regions.
  • Provides a framework for mentoring and coaching engineers within the Installation Logistics - Cables discipline in the development of their technical skills.
  • Evaluates the technical readiness of engineers to progress within the Technical Career Path, TCP, in the Installation Logistics - Cables discipline.
  • Uncovers emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, key stakeholders and related issues.
  • Thinks strategically with a forward-looking and 360-degree view on technology assessment.

Influencing the industry and external representation

  • Influences industry trends and standards to the benefit of the business and acts as a key contributor to international standards committees for Installation Logistics - Cables, leveraging strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Serves as an ambassador in promoting the external reputation of the company’s engineering excellence, for example towards future partners, the supply chain, regulators and standards institutions, in relation to the expert subject matter.
