KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
- Contribute to all stages of the design process, from concept development through to detailed design and project delivery.
- Work collaboratively within the design team, contributing to a positive and supportive studio environment.
- Manage own time effectively to meet project schedules, keeping all stakeholders informed of progress.
- Prepare for and represent RWD at project meetings, including overseas visits.
- Develop strong interior design concepts which are unique to every project and client.
- Produce concept design sketches and 3D/2D views to illustrate designs.
- Produce and develop technical drawing packages in AutoCAD, including layouts, joinery details, and interior detailing.
- Supply clear and detailed information for visualisation.
- Assist with the selection of materials for the creation of mood boards and hardware to produce specification lists.
- Effectively communicate and translate the interior design information to colleagues, the client, the shipyard and suppliers.
- Integrate sustainable design principles and responsible material selection into project development.
- Contribute ideas that support positive environmental and social impact in design solutions.
- Thorough knowledge of and compliance with RWD procedures and standards.
- Stay aware of current competition and abreast of industry trends and developments.
- Seek continuing professional development.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS
- Experience in luxury yacht interiors or other high-end sectors such as hospitality, aviation, or residential design.
- Creative, passionate, and innovative designer.
- Graduate or Master's degree in Interior Design. Other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered.
- Excellent communication skills and eloquence to convey ideas with sketches and drawings.
- Great knowledge of materials and finishes.
- Great understanding of form and spatial design.
- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, MS Office/Excel.
- Ability to focus on individual detail whilst maintaining a good overall view of the project.
- Good team player, willing to assist and learn.
- Desirable: Hand sketching, as well as software skills, Rhino and SketchUp.
