Job Requirements:

  • Responsible for tool repairs, maintenance, and manufacture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan work effectively and efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Manufacture all work as specified by the Tool Order Request using current issue design drawings.
  • Work to BS 308 drawing standards and associated BS standards.
  • Use various measurement methods with equipment such as micrometres, verniers, slip gauges, pin and thread gauges, and shadow graphs.
  • Repair, maintain, and improve mould and press tooling.
  • Evaluate repair jobs to determine the work involved to get tooling into specification.
  • Understand mould and press tool processes and operations.
  • Inspect and test work to ensure tooling meets quality standards and functional requirements.
  • Comply with current work instructions and Health and Safety regulations.
  • Operate machines and processes according to documented procedures.
  • Perform benchwork/hand skill activities and maintain tools in operational condition.
  • Report any machine or equipment malfunctions to the line manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Expertise:

  • Hot runner system knowledge and experience.
  • Unscrewing mould tool knowledge and experience.
  • Laser welding (desirable but not essential).
  • Progression strip tool knowledge and experience.
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.

Required/Preferred Qualifications/Education:

  • Engineering qualification / time served apprenticeship.
  • Hold a current Abrasive Wheels Regulations certificate.

Competencies / Behaviours:

  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Collaborate with peers in diagnosing and problem solving.
  • Progress and troubleshoot multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Stay updated with current moulding and manufacturing processes.
  • Be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and confident.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn and develop skills where necessary.
