POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety, Compliance & Standards
    • Drive behavioural-based safety across extrusion operations, ensuring full compliance with HSE, engineering, and legislative standards.
    • Ensure safe systems of work are implemented and adhered to, including permits to work, risk assessments, LOTOTO, guarding, and interlocks.
    • Take a leading role in incident response and follow-up, ensuring actions are completed and lessons learned embedded.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections across extrusion and materials handling areas.
    • Ensure operational compliance with applicable ISO standards and internal procedures.
  • Extrusion Operations & Performance
    • Deliver daily extrusion output in line with the agreed production plan, quality standards, and customer demand.
    • Lead daily and weekly performance reviews, ensuring key operational metrics are visible, understood, and acted upon.
    • Own operational Tier 1 / Tier 2 reviews, ensuring problem-solving is driven at the appropriate level.
    • Monitor production performance indicators including schedule adherence, output, machine utilisation, waste, and right-first-time.
    • Support preventative maintenance and breakdown response activities, escalating risks where required.
  • Production Planning, Materials & Warehouse Control
    • Oversee production planning activities to ensure plans are aligned to forecast demand and operational capability.
    • Ensure availability and control of raw materials to support uninterrupted extrusion output.
    • Oversee finished goods storage and dispatch readiness, maintaining stock levels in line with targets.
    • Ensure accurate administration of production and inventory transactions within the ERP system.
    • Liaise with third-party logistics and warehouse partners to manage inbound and outbound material flows effectively.
    • Review and track planning and warehouse KPIs to support operational delivery and stock accuracy.
  • People Leadership & Engagement
    • Lead, manage, and develop extrusion and associated planning / warehouse teams.
    • Set clear expectations and objectives aligned to operational priorities.
    • Carry out performance reviews, one-to-one meetings, coaching, and development discussions.
    • Manage attendance, holidays, and absence in line with company policy.
    • Support disciplinary and grievance processes where required, in line with established procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement & Change
    • Identify and implement operational improvement opportunities focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
    • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring ideas are effectively reviewed and implemented.
    • Contribute to the implementation of new systems, processes, and ways of working that improve extrusion performance.
    • Use data and root-cause analysis to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERTISE

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing diverse teams within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage workforce planning and resource planning to ensure operational excellence and support succession planning initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in extrusion operations, with deep technical expertise in mechanical and/or electrical fault diagnosis and resolution.
  • Ability to collaborate and lead, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles as applied to extrusion processes.
  • Knowledge of HSE standards and engineering compliance procedures, with a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
  • Ability to make decisions, and take accountability for site-wide operational and business outcomes.
