We believe our people are our greatest asset, as it’s their dedication to excellence that has been the foundation for our outstanding reputation.

This Trainee Quantity Surveyor role is designed for someone eager to learn and grow. You’ll gain real-world experience on both office and site projects while pursuing a RICS-accredited degree, supported every step of the way.

What you’ll be doing – and how we’ll support your development:

  • You’ll work alongside an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, learning how construction projects are costed and commercially managed from tender stage through to final account.
  • You’ll be supported in sending out enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, reviewing quotations, and developing an understanding of procurement routes and contract administration.
  • You’ll assist with the preparation of subcontract orders and learn how building contracts are used and managed on live projects.
  • You’ll work closely with Site and Contracts Managers to understand how different construction methods and changes on site affect cost, programme and commercial outcomes.
  • You’ll help review subcontractor payment applications and learn how valuations, payments and cost control processes operate in practice.
  • You’ll support the commercial team with monthly cost reports, valuations and final accounts, developing confidence working with Excel and construction management systems.
  • You’ll gradually build the confidence to communicate professionally with colleagues, subcontractors, consultants and clients as your experience develops.

Where you’ll be based:

You’ll be part of our Central Region where high-end country projects from £500k to £100m are delivered by teams aligned to the scale and complexity of each build. Our portfolio for the region spans listed buildings, major refurbishments, contemporary new builds, sporting estates, boutique hotels, and substantial private residences. You’ll be based across both our regional Basingstoke office and our live project sites, giving you the opportunity to gain experience in both office-based commercial work and on-site activity. Our office at Grosvenor House, Basing View, provides a modern, professional working environment with facilities to support your development. When on site, you’ll work as part of experienced project teams known for their collaborative approach and commitment to delivering high-quality projects.

Some of the rewards of working with us:

  • Get 24/7 support through our Employee Assistance Programme, offering expert advice, counselling, and practical help whenever you need it.
  • Enjoy a restful holiday break—we close during the Christmas period, giving you the chance to relax over the festive season.
  • We prioritise your wellbeing with our healthcare programmes, annual flu vaccines, and for those who will benefit, a personalised menopause plan.
