Job Overview

Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll Specialist at our Wakefield office. You will form part of the Global Payroll Team working closely and flexibly and reporting to the Payroll Manager. Duties include processing monthly payroll for approximately 2000 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Support day‑to‑day operations for our three monthly payrolls – processing starters, leavers and monthly changes, reconciliations and journals, and participating in process mapping.
  • Keep up to date with legislation changes and support system testing each tax year.
  • Provide a first‑class transactional and administrative service to members and stakeholders.
  • Serve as custodian of My Support Centre, dealing with queries and forwarding pension queries to our providers as required.
  • Liaise with the People Services Team, Finance and the Reward Adviser, offering support as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for various pension schemes across the Group, undertaking tasks such as re‑enrolment or joining/leaving membership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proficient in an in‑house payroll system within a UK payroll processing function.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office – especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Good understanding of Excel, journal entries, reconciliations and payroll legislation.
  • Experience with payroll packages (In‑Pay or similar) is advantageous.
  • Excellent team‑player mindset with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexible mindset to adapt to hybrid working (typically 2 days in office, 3 days from home) and a 35‑hour per week commitment (minimum 28 hours if reduced).
