We have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll and Pensions Specialist at our Wakefield office. You will form part of the Global Payroll Team, working closely and flexibly with the Payroll Executive and reporting to the Payroll Manager.
Responsibilities
- Process monthly payroll for approximately 2000 employees and support day‑to‑day payroll operations.
- Provide support on day‑to‑day payroll operations for our three monthly payrolls, including processing starters, leavers, monthly changes, reconciliations, journals, process mapping and administering pension scheme changes.
- Maintain knowledge of legislation changes, support system testing each tax year.
- Offer a first‑class transactional and administrative service to members and stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support for the various pension schemes across the Group, including re‑enrolment and membership changes.
- Act as custodian of the My Support Centre, dealing with queries and forwarding pension queries to providers as required.
- Reconcile monthly pension contributions and submit monthly returns via pension portals.
- Liaise with People Services, Finance and the Reward Adviser as required.
Operate a hybrid working arrangement: two days in the Wakefield office and three days working from home. Commit to a full‑time role of 35 hours per week, with flexibility to consider reduced hours (minimum 28 hours per week). Competitive salary and great benefits. Use the In‑Pay payroll software and any relevant payroll packages with competence; excellent knowledge of Excel, journal entries and reconciliations.
Qualifications
- Good knowledge of working in an in‑house payroll system servicing a medium‑size trust‑based pension scheme (approx. 1500+ members).
- Knowledge of Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, Pension Master Trust and other pension schemes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
