As RVM Systems scales its operations ahead of the UK's Deposit Return Scheme rollout, we're looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager to lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our health, safety, and environmental management systems. This role supports our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certifications and is central to embedding a strong, practical safety and sustainability culture across our warehouses and wider operations, including our field engineering workforce, reflecting RVM Systems' position as a sustainability-focused business.
Key Responsibilities
- Health & Safety: Own and maintain the Company's Health & Safety Policy and management system, ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO 45001. Develop, review, and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements across warehouse and field operations. Embed a positive, practical health and safety culture across warehouses and the wider business, working closely with warehouse, field, and office teams. Deliver or coordinate H&S training, inductions, and toolbox talks, including for new starters. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring appropriate reporting (including RIDDOR where applicable) and follow-up actions. Monitor compliance with COSHH, manual handling, DSE, fire safety, lone working, and vehicle/transport safety requirements. Support contractor management processes, including contractor inductions and site safety checks.
- Environment & Sustainability: Own and maintain the Company's environmental management system, ensuring ongoing compliance with ISO 14001. Monitor and report on environmental performance, including waste management, energy use, and carbon footprint across warehouse and office sites. Support the business's wider sustainability objectives, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded in operational decision-making. Manage COSHH and hazardous substance handling in line with environmental as well as safety requirements. Keep up to date with environmental legislation and best practice, advising the business on required changes. Support waste reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency initiatives across warehouse and office operations.
- Quality & Governance: Lead internal audits and support external certification audits across ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001, driving corrective actions where required. Keep up to date with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, advising the business on required changes. Prepare regular H&S and environmental performance reporting for the Managing Director and senior leadership team. Champion continuous improvement in safety and environmental culture across a growing, increasingly warehouse- and field-based workforce.
Ideal Experiences
- Proven experience in a Health, Safety and Environment Manager (or similar) role, ideally spanning warehouse/logistics and field-based operations.
- Practical, hands-on experience supporting ISO 9001, 14001, and/or 45001 management systems and audits.
- Strong working knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and embed culture change at all levels of the business.
- Full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to warehouse and field sites.
- Experience within a logistics, warehousing, engineering, or field service environment.
- Experience managing H&S and environmental performance through a period of business growth or operational change.
