As non-domestic ratepayers prepare for the 2026 rating list, several opportunities have arisen for ambitious and driven individuals to join our friendly and collaborative business rates surveying team. The Rating Department provides expert advice to a wide range of clients across the bulk property classes (office, industrial and retail), non-bulk property classes (car showrooms, day nurseries, leisure premises etc.), and trade premises (public houses and hotels). Based in our Head Office in Denton, Manchester, the Senior Surveyor would be primarily working with the rating surveying team to manage casework from our diverse client base to reduce their historic and future business rates liabilities.
Responsibilities
- Undertake Rating Valuations and Appeals
- Undertake research / analysis of comparable rental evidence
- Inspecting / measuring client properties (principally industrial / office / retail)
- Negotiate with the Valuation Office Agency
- Prepare submissions for challenges
- Represent at Valuation Tribunal
- Support and work alongside all members of the surveying team and other operational departments
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Rating Surveyor
- Strong knowledge of Rating and case law
- Hold a full Driving Licence
- Ambitious and motivated to progress their career
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Good IT skills including proficiency in Word and Excel
- Well organised, flexible and able to work to tight deadlines

- Salary: £42,000 - £50,000 (commensurate with skills and experience)
