ROLE OVERVIEW
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Essential Skills Tutor to join our team at our Larne and Carrick Branches. As an Essential Skills Tutor you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Your responsibilities will include inspiring and guiding students in cultivating essential skills in communication, application of number, and ICT.
Through engaging lesson plans and tailored teaching methods, you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering a space where diverse learners can thrive. Your role extends beyond traditional teaching, as you provide ongoing support and feedback to help students overcome challenges and achieve their personal and professional goals.
The successful candidate will deliver to students studying on government-funded training programmes Skills for Life and Work (School Leavers) and ApprenticeshipsNI; as well as private students.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for education; and possess the motivation and commitment to see our students succeed on their programme of study. Ideally, they will have good mentoring skills and sound knowledge of working with awarding bodies and delivering qualifications.

We offer government-funded training programmes Skills for Life & Work and ApprenticeshipsNI; as well as private and corporate training. Qualifications / Experience:
- Minimum Level 2/GCSE English and Maths qualifications
- A Degree in the subject specialism (Numeracy/Literacy/ICT)
- Recognised Teaching Qualification OR Achievement of the Certificate in Teaching (Yr 1 of the PGCE) within one year in post*
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Full clean driving licence and access to transport
*Existing Essential Skills Tutors recognised as qualified by the Department prior to 1st August 2012 and currently in employment will retain this recognition.
