ONLY DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY. The Lead Security Officer’s responsibility is to enforce hospital policies, procedures, and regulations. The lead serves as a knowledgeable resource and provides guidance and support to RRMC staff and officers. The Lead is responsible for delegating the requests of service in efforts to maintain continuity of service and coverage throughout the facility. In addition to performing all duties of a Security Officer, the Lead serves the training needs of the department and engages less experienced team members through guidance and mentoring. This position serves as the primary resource for the on-site Security team and seeks guidance from leadership as needed. The Lead may also support department leadership with administrative tasks as time and schedule permits.
Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in related field preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: 2 years’ experience in healthcare security role; 1 year experience as a first responder.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
- Maintains a valid Vermont state driver’s license.
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire).
- Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program.
- Instructor certification (required within 2 years of hire).
- OCAT Instructor Certification (required within 1 year of hire).
- PATH Instructor Certification (required within 1 year of hire).
- HERT Instructor Certification (required within 2 years of hire).
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety Supervisory Certification (required within 2 years of hire).
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Requires knowledge to comply with federal, state, and local statutes and regulations.
- Willingness and ability to utilise personal vehicle for business purposes.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Interpersonal skills required to interact with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
- Willingness and ability to rotate duty to encompass all locations and roles.
- Must have the ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to discretely handle confidential information.
- Must possess good communication skills and clear thinking to communicate with others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
- Ability to meaningfully convey course materials to trainees in a clear, concise and comprehensive manner.
- Ability to critically assess and evaluate situations and respond appropriately.
Pay Range: $21.96 - $31.99
COMPETITIVE DIFFERENTIALS RATES:
- $4.25 - Evenings
- $8.00 - Nights
- $4.75 - Weekends
