About you

  • A registered Social Worker qualified to L3
  • A passion for children’s social care, particularly in Fostering and Kinship
  • Sound knowledge of fostering legislation and national minimum standards
  • Experience of managing a full and varied workload with the ability to set and work to clear objectives and priorities
  • Practical experience of working with foster carers
  • A problem solving attitude with the ability to bring a range of interventions together to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people

About the role

  • Completing Form F and Kindship assessments for new carers
  • Undertaking Private Fostering and Step Parent Adoption Assessments
  • Providing support, advice and guidance to local authority Foster Carers in every aspect of Fostering to enable acquisition of appropriate expertise
  • Providing training and support groups for Carers
  • Identifying placements for children appropriate to their needs
  • Supporting recruitment campaigns
  • Supporting SGO families

This is a varied role that would suit an individual who has sound knowledge in childcare legislation and fostering, who consistently displays a commitment to providing high quality fostering services and who has great communication skills and demonstrates a “can do” attitude.

Please be advised the postholder will need a driving licence to travel around the county.

The Supervising Social Worker face to face interviews will be held at the council offices on 20 February 2026. Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.
