Rutherford is partnered with a top-tier City law firm to recruit a 2–4 PQE Banking – Infrastructure & Energy Finance Solicitor for its London office. The firm is widely recognised for advising on the financing of some of the largest and most complex energy and infrastructure projects in the UK and internationally, with a particularly strong reputation in renewables and energy transition work.
You’ll join a highly respected projects and finance team advising sponsors, lenders, funds, corporates, and public-sector bodies on landmark energy and infrastructure financings. The role offers exposure to market-leading project finance transactions across the full asset lifecycle, from development and construction through to acquisition, refinancing, and operational phases.
Key responsibilities- Advise on the project financing of major energy and infrastructure assets, including renewables (wind, solar, hydrogen), power generation, utilities, natural resources, pipelines, and transport and digital infrastructure.
- Support clients on development-stage and construction-phase financings, working through complex risk allocation and contractual structures.
- Act on acquisitions and refinancings of operational energy and infrastructure assets for funds, corporates, and state-owned entities.
- Work on cross-border, multi-party, and multilateral transactions involving export credit agencies, development banks, governments, and international lenders.
- Advise on energy transition and ESG-driven financings, including sustainability-linked and green financing structures.
- Draft, review, and negotiate finance and project documentation, collaborating closely with corporate, regulatory, and projects colleagues.
- 2–4 PQE experience in project finance, infrastructure finance, or energy finance, ideally gained at a leading City or international firm.
- Strong technical skills and interest in complex, structured financings and large-scale projects.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to understand and advise on project risk across the full lifecycle.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- A collaborative approach and confidence working with sophisticated institutional clients.
