Our client is a leading international law firm seeking a Senior Associate to join its London Corporate practice, with a particular focus on the Technology, Media, Communications and Gambling sectors. The team advises an impressive mix of founders, high-growth businesses, major corporates, institutional investors, venture capital funds and private equity houses on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions. The practice combines genuine sector specialism with a broad corporate offering spanning businesses at every stage of their lifecycle.
The Role
- The successful candidate will work closely with senior corporate partners on a broad range of matters, including:
- Domestic and cross-border M&A, venture capital, growth capital, strategic investments, joint ventures and fundraisings.
- Transactions across technology, software, AI/data, digital platforms, media, entertainment, telecoms, digital infrastructure, gaming and gambling.
- Managing and supervising associates and trainees, as well as coordinating international counsel and specialist teams.
- Working closely with colleagues across tax, IP, commercial technology, data protection, competition, incentives and regulatory matters.
- Taking greater ownership of client relationships, business development and building a profile within the relevant sectors.
- Using AI and other technology to improve efficiency and delivery throughout the transaction lifecycle.
- The work is genuinely varied, ranging from strategic acquisitions and disposals to PE-backed transactions, venture financings, minority investments, carve-outs and public takeovers.
Candidate Profile
- Ideally 6+ PQE, E&W or common law qualified, with strong corporate transactional experience gained at a leading UK, international or US law firm.
- Strong grounding in M&A, ideally alongside exposure to VC, growth capital or other strategic corporate transactions.
- Previous TMC and/or Gambling sector experience would be advantageous, whether through private practice, an in-house role or secondment.
- Excellent drafting skills, including the ability to develop bespoke documentation rather than relying solely on precedents.
- Commercial, confident and comfortable taking the lead on transactions and managing junior lawyers.
- Strong client-facing and communication skills, with an interest in developing direct client relationships.
- Genuine appetite to develop deeper sector expertise and embrace AI and technology within legal practice.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded, sector-led corporate practice rather than a purely generalist M&A team. Senior associates are given meaningful responsibility for leading transactions, managing teams and developing direct client relationships, alongside the opportunity to build their own market profile and network. The firm offers a competitive salary and bonus, hybrid working, strong benefits and clear scope for continued progression within a large international platform.
