Associate – Oil & Gas

Are you the right candidate for this opportunity Make sure to read the full description below.

Our client is seeking a high-calibre Associate to join its Energy & Infrastructure group in London, with a particular focus on oil and gas. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a specialist team that plays a pivotal role advising on complex, high-value transactions and projects within the sector — including energy transition-related work.

Overview

The group sits at the forefront of the oil and gas legal market, supporting global clients across the upstream, midstream and downstream value chain. The team works with an international client base spanning independent producers, major utilities, funds, and energy investors on high-impact mandates across regions including the UKCS, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and continental Europe.

Its lawyers advise on transactions and commercial contracts across traditional hydrocarbon operations as well as emerging energy transition projects involving hydrogen, CCUS, battery storage, and electrification of infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Advising on acquisitions, disposals, and joint ventures involving energy assets
  • Supporting the development and financing of major energy projects
  • Advising on infrastructure arrangements, including FPSOs, pipelines, terminals, and shipping
  • Working on cross-border mandates alongside sector specialists in finance, regulatory, and projects

Candidate Requirements

Candidates from 1 to 7 years’ PQE will be considered. Strong experience in energy M&A, projects, or oil and gas commercial contracts is essential. Exposure to cross-border work or complex supply chain matters is a plus. Those with broader transactional or infrastructure experience and a clear interest in the energy sector are also encouraged to apply. Strong commercial acumen, a pragmatic approach, and a commitment to client service will be key attributes for success in this team.

What’s on Offer

This is a rare chance to join one of the most respected oil and gas legal practices in the UK, with a strong reputation for both sector expertise and the scale of its mandates. The successful candidate will work directly with market-leading partners and enjoy a varied, international caseload.
