An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a senior Sanctions Disputes Solicitor (6+ PQE) to join a market-leading international disputes and investigations team in London. This highly regarded practice advises multinational corporates, financial institutions, insurers, traders, shipowners and major commodities businesses on some of the most complex and high-profile sanctions matters globally. The team is particularly recognised for its expertise across the shipping, commodities and international trade sectors.
The successful candidate will work on a broad range of contentious and advisory sanctions matters, including:
- Advising on UK, EU and US sanctions regimes, including complex cross-border and overlapping regulatory frameworks
- Supporting sanctions compliance programmes, policies and internal controls
- Advising on sanctions risk in transactions, financings and commercial contracts
- Handling investigations, voluntary disclosures and enforcement actions, including matters involving OFAC and other regulatory authorities
- Acting on disputes, litigation and arbitration where sanctions impact contracts, payments or asset freezes
- Supporting clients in audits, investigations and proceedings before UK and EU authorities and courts
- Providing strategic guidance and real-time advice on evolving geopolitical sanctions developments and their commercial impact
Candidate Requirements:
- 6+ years’ PQE gained at a leading international or specialist disputes/regulatory practice
- Strong experience advising on contentious sanctions matters and cross-border regulatory disputes
- Excellent knowledge of UK, EU and US sanctions frameworks
- Experience acting for clients in highly regulated sectors such as shipping, commodities, energy, insurance or financial institutions is highly desirable
- Strong drafting, analytical and client management skills
- Ability to work on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters within a fast-paced international team
