Rutherford Cross is pleased to be supporting a growing private equity backed business based in Stirling with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant on a permanent basis. The Assistant Accountant will support the Group Accountant in delivering accurate and timely financial information across the group. The role involves assisting with daily finance operations, maintaining financial records, and supporting month-end and reporting processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance within a growing organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Process purchase invoices and ensure accurate coding and posting
- Sales invoicing and maintaining the sales ledger
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries
- Support credit control activities and monitor customer balances
- Assist with daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Process bank payments and maintain accurate cash records
- Support cash flow monitoring and reporting
- Assist with month-end close procedures
- Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments as required
- Support the preparation of management accounts
- Assist with VAT returns and audit preparation
- Ensure finance records are accurate, complete, and well organised
- Adhere to internal controls and financial procedures
- Provide ad hoc finance and administrative support to the Group Accountant
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
