An opportunity has arisen for a qualified Management Accountant to join a dynamic public sector finance team supporting vital local services. This is a hybrid role offering flexibility (typically 50% home-based) with a strong emphasis on partnership working and business support.This is a newly created role offering breadth and autonomy within a collaborative team environment. You’ll act as a finance business partner, helping to guide service managers through budget setting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting. You’ll also play a key role in the year-end process and contribute to statutory returns and long-term financial planning.Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights that influence service delivery
  • Lead a small team in supporting budget holders across key service areas
  • Develop forecasts, monitor performance, and analyse variances
  • Prepare financial reports, statutory returns, and contribute to year-end accounts
  • Support wider improvement projects and business cases through robust financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Finalist or fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Proven experience in a management accounting or business partnering role
  • Confident communicator, able to translate complex financial data for non-financial stakeholders
  • Comfortable working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Strong Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems
