Rutherford Cross is pleased to be supporting a Glasgow-based organisation with the appointment of an Interim Production Accountant. This role will provide key financial support in the planning and delivery of a major event over a 10-12 week period.
Position: Production Accountant
Duration: 10-12 weeks
Location: Glasgow City Centre (hybrid)
Start date: Immediate
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with budget owners to develop comprehensive budgets and forecasts, offering challenge, support, and financial guidance throughout the process
- Monitor project revenues and costs against agreed budgets, identifying emerging risks and working with stakeholders to implement corrective actions, where required
- Produce regular management reports, financial dashboards, and variance analyses to support decision-making by project leads and senior management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring effective cost control across multiple projects, locations, and business functions
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to ensure contractual commitments and their financial implications are correctly reflected in reporting and forecasts
- Take ownership of contract administration and reporting activities within the corporate services function
- Ensure budget holders comply with established financial, procurement, legal, and HR policies throughout project planning and delivery
- Support the processing of day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, expenses, and payroll entries, using Xero and other relevant systems
- Raise purchase orders and sales invoices, ensuring documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and key deadlines, proactively following up on outstanding actions when necessary
- Handle confidential and sensitive information professionally, maintaining the highest standards of discretion
- Provide broader support to the Finance team, assisting with ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as required
The Ideal Candidate:
- Experience in a production accounting or project accounting role
- Experience tracking and reporting on project income and expenditure
- Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills
- Excellent Excel skills
- Immediately available
