A growing commercial property investment and asset management business is looking for an organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to join the finance team. This is a hands-on role that suits someone who enjoys transactional finance while also gaining exposure to management accounts and VAT within a dynamic and expanding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Receivable and Credit Control
- Manage credit control activity and monitor debtor balances
- Issue statements and follow-up on outstanding debts in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate customer account information
- Code and process purchase invoices
- Ensure invoices are authorised and posted on time
- Maintain supplier records and resolve invoice queries
- Complete regular bank reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items
- Assist with cash flow monitoring
- Prepare and issue sales invoices in line with agreed schedules
- Ensure correct VAT treatment is applied
- Assist with quarterly management accounts preparation
- Provide reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Work closely with senior finance staff to support reporting deadlines
- Prepare VAT returns for review
- Ensure compliance with VAT requirements relevant to commercial property
- Maintain accurate VAT records
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in an accounts assistant or similar finance role
- Strong attention to detail with high accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Confident with accounting systems and Excel
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
Personal Attributes:
- Proactive and able to take ownership of tasks
- Comfortable working in a growing and evolving business
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach
