Scotland's premium menswear brand is recruiting for the key appointment of Head of Finance. KESTIN is a Scottish-founded brand blending modern design with heritage craft. From its Edinburgh HQ, the brand operates across online, retail and wholesale channels, exporting to key international markets while remaining proudly independent.
The Head of Finance will play a hands-on role in managing the end-to-end finance processes of the business, ensuring the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to senior management to support effective decision-making. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the business owners as they implement their three-year strategic plan, focusing on core revenue streams and driving the continued growth of KESTINβs eCommerce operations.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead on financial forecasting on short- and long-term timelines
- Prepare and provide commentary on financial accounts to the board at board meetings
- Provide financial input on business strategy decisions, adding value and driving continuous improvement
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the other divisions of the business
- Manage bank accounts, identifying funding needs for payment runs and periodically setting aside cash for VAT returns and corporation tax
- Run the Accounts Payable process, from processing invoices for payment through to weekly payment runs
- Post monthly accounting entries accurately, as required
- Run the month-end reporting process, reconciling month-end balances and preparing P/L by department
- Produce monthly management accounts and KPI reporting for the business using the existing dashboard template
- Update the financial re-forecast with actual results each month and make amendments to forecast figures as required
- Use the financial re-forecast to identify any potential shortfalls in cash flow or distributable reserves and escalate this to the Directors
- Where necessary, use existing facilities via Funding Circle and Triver to manage any cash flow shortfalls
- Review and submit UK VAT returns via Xero
- Monitor pension submissions and direct debit payments that are processed automatically when payroll is submitted
- Complete payroll and HMRC payments as and when required
Skills & Experience:
- Confident in engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, including non-financial colleagues
- Skilled in visualising data and communicating key financial insights clearly and effectively
- Proficient in Xero bookkeeping software and Excel/Google Sheets
- Good understanding of UK payroll requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
