Rutherford Cross is supporting a growing Glasgow-based SME with the appointment of an Interim Management Accountant for an initial 3-month period. This role will provide key support and continuity during a transitional period, working alongside a Fractional Finance Director to ensure the smooth running of the finance function while the business recruits on a permanent basis.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare month end accounts, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage the full purchase ledger, including supplier and subcontractor invoices and weekly payment runs
  • Process and manage the sales ledger, including invoicing and applications for payment
  • Reconcile supplier statements, bank accounts and credit cards on a regular basis
  • Monitor costs across live projects, ensuring accurate tracking against budgets
  • Support project teams with financial insight to improve cost control and performance
  • Administer VAT returns, CIS submissions and other statutory reporting requirements
  • Support payroll processing, including timesheets and subcontractor payments
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function as the business grows

The Ideal Candidate

  • Immediately available
  • Proven experience within a construction, civil engineering or contracting environment
  • Understanding of subcontractor payments, CIS, applications for payment and project-based accounting
