Rutherford Briant are recruiting a Corporate Tax Manager for a leading accountancy and business advisory firm in Maidenhead. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Corporate Tax professional who wants a broad role combining advisory projects, compliance oversight, client relationships and team development. The position can accommodate someone taking their first step into management or an established Manager looking for greater variety and progression. You will work with an interesting portfolio ranging from owner-managed and family businesses to larger UK companies and international groups. The precise balance between advisory and compliance work can be shaped around your experience and longer-term interests.

What you will do:

  • Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients across a variety of sectors and ownership structures
  • Oversee the preparation and review of corporation tax computations, returns and associated compliance work
  • Provide commercially focused advice on a broad range of corporate tax matters
  • Support business transactions including acquisitions, disposals, restructures and group reorganisations
  • Assist clients with tax planning, risk management and compliance obligations
  • Become a trusted point of contact, building strong and lasting client relationships
  • Work alongside Partners and Directors on more complex advisory and technical assignments
  • Liaise with HMRC regarding enquiries, clearances and other corporate tax matters
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional support to existing clients
  • Delegate and review work while supporting the development of junior team members
  • Collaborate with colleagues across audit, accounts and advisory services

What we are looking for:

  • You will have strong UK corporate tax experience gained within an accountancy practice or similarly client-focused environment.
  • You may already be operating at Manager level or be an experienced Assistant Manager ready for your next move.
  • Ideally, you will be ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualified, although applications from candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
  • You will also bring:
    • A sound grounding in corporate tax compliance and advisory work
    • Experience working with a varied client portfolio
    • Strong commercial awareness and technical judgement
    • The ability to manage assignments, budgets and deadlines effectively
    • Confident client communication and relationship-building skills
    • An interest in developing colleagues and helping to grow the service

The opportunity:

You will join a supportive and ambitious tax team within a substantial firm that can offer both high-quality work and genuine career progression. The breadth of the client base means you can continue building your technical expertise without being confined to one narrow type of work.

The firm offers:

  • Salary up to £67,000, depending on experience
  • Hybrid working, typically including two days working from home
  • Flexible working around core hours
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to buy or sell additional days
  • Discretionary bonus and employee recognition scheme
  • Structured training and career development
  • Employee wellbeing and assistance support
