A leading international manufacturing business specialising in advanced engineered components and assemblies is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Materials Planner & Logistics Manager to oversee purchasing, planning, and logistics operations within a fast-paced production environment. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial awareness with operational expertise to ensure material availability supports production demands while maintaining cost efficiency and supplier performance.
Full time 37.5-hour week - Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5pm, Friday 8.30am - 2.30pm.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Materials Planning Manager you will:
- Develop and maintain purchasing procedures, policies, and supplier agreements
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers
- Build and manage supplier relationships while mitigating supply chain risks
- Maintain appropriate stock levels for raw materials, consumables, and tooling
- Utilise MRP/ERP systems to improve planning accuracy and operational efficiency
- Align production schedules with sales forecasts and inventory targets
- Oversee storage, packing, and on-time customer deliveries
- Lead, support, and develop the Planning team (managing a team of 8)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and logistics functions
As a Materials Planning Manager, you will need:
- Relevant degree qualification and/or CIPS qualified (or working towards)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within materials planning, procurement, and logistics
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, Microsoft Office, contract management, and technical specifications/drawings
- Proven leadership and communication skills
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
