Wagstaff Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Welder / Fabricator to join a busy heavy plant environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer looking for a practical maintenance role where your skills will have an immediate impact.
Pay Rate: £35 per hour for all hours worked via our accredited payroll partner
Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00, Friday - 06:00 – 16:00
The Role – Maintenance Welder / Fabricator
You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy industrial equipment, ensuring safe operation, reliability, and reduced downtime. Key duties include:
- Carry out MIG and stick welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs
- Complete planned, reactive, and emergency maintenance activities
- Repair and maintain equipment including chutes, hoppers, guards, platforms, moulds, mixers, conveyors, and plant structures
- Support improvements to equipment life and reliability within a high-abrasion environment
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Complete fabrication, fitting, and structural repair work to a high standard
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and modifications
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams to prioritise tasks
- Follow strict safety procedures including LOTO/LOTOTO, hot-work permits, confined space requirements, and PPE standards
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as an industrial Welder / Fabricator
- Strong MIG and stick welding ability
- 2–5 years' experience within a manufacturing, heavy plant, cement, concrete, or aggregate environment (preferred)
- Excellent steel fabrication, fitting, and layout skills
- Mechanical maintenance experience
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and welding specifications
- Strong health & safety awareness
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Relevant welding qualifications/certifications
