An excellent opportunity for an experienced Field Service & Projects Engineer to join a successful business operating within the product treatment and process plant sector. In this role you will be combining electrical, mechanical and controls engineering skills with project delivery and customer support. You will work across a wide range of industrial sites throughout the UK, supporting both existing plant and new installations. A key aspect of the role is acting as the technical link between customers and external software developers. You will not be responsible for full PLC programming (unless you can do it!), but you will use your understanding of PLC, SCADA and HMI systems to diagnose issues, define requirements, and support system improvements. No two weeks will be the same. Work will include remote technical support, on-site fault finding, inspections, commissioning support, upgrades and project delivery. You will also carry out hands-on mechanical and electrical work involving pumps, valves, pipework, sensors and general process plant equipment. The role suits an engineer who enjoys being on the road, working independently, and solving practical engineering problems directly on customer sites, including regular overnight stays.

Package: £65,000 depending on experience, Company Car, Bonus Scheme, Home-based role with UK travel (Central UK location ideal)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and support industrial process plant equipment across the UK
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical and process-related faults
  • Work on pumps, valves, sensors, pipework and associated systems
  • Install, modify and fault-find control panels
  • Provide remote and on-site support for PLC, SCADA and HMI systems
  • Act as the interface between customers and external software developers
  • Support installation, commissioning and upgrade projects
  • Project manage larger installations using subcontractors
  • Carry out plant inspections, audits and customer training
  • Produce RAMS, method statements and risk assessments
  • Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders

About You:

  • Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Engineering background (apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in industrial or process plant environments
  • Previous field service / customer site experience essential
  • Good working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI systems and fault finding / modifying control panels
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Hands-on mechanical and electrical capability (hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge advantageous)
  • Happy with UK-wide travel and regular overnight stays
