A successful and well-established food manufacturer is seeking a Lead Maintenance Engineer / Team Leader to join their engineering team on a 4 on 4 off days & nights shift pattern. This is an excellent opportunity to join a profitable, stable and growing business that continues to invest heavily in its people, plant and brand. This role would suit an experienced Lead Engineer or Team Leader, but the business will also consider strong Maintenance Engineers who have not previously held a supervisory role but can demonstrate the potential and desire to step into a leadership position.
The Role
As Lead Maintenance Engineer, you will remain hands-on while leading a team of two Engineers on shift, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and equipment reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, guide and mentor engineers on shift
- Prioritise workload to support production and minimise downtime
- Ensure safe systems of work and compliance with site standards
- Deliver effective planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Respond to and resolve unplanned breakdowns efficiently
- Monitor equipment performance, reporting variances and taking corrective action
- Communicate technical issues to relevant departments
- Support and complete engineering projects, installations and equipment modifications
Experience & Skills Required
- Qualified Maintenance Engineer (C&G / NVQ Level 3 essential; ONC / HNC desirable)
- Multi-skilled with strong mechanical and electrical capability (electrically biased preferred)
- Ideally apprenticeship trained
- Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills
- Food manufacturing experience highly advantageous
- Engineers without prior leadership titles will be considered if they demonstrate the aptitude and motivation to lead a team
Salary & Benefits
- Salary circa £51,000
- Up to 5% annual bonus
- 4 on 4 off 12-hour days & nights shift pattern

Location
Ideally suited to engineers living in South Nottingham, North Leicestershire or the Melton Mowbray area.
