Junior Accounts Assistant
Employment type: full-time, permanent
Hours: 8.30am to 5pm (with 1 hr for lunch)
Location: Hybrid (Home and Ruth Miskin Training’s Head Office, Liverpool Street, London)
Salary: between £25,000 to £27,000 per annum – dependant on experience

About the role:
As a Junior Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the accounts department. Your responsibilities will include providing customer support, preparing sales invoices, maintaining accurate sales ledgers and providing support to the credit control function. You will also assist with maintaining the accounting system, processing purchase invoices and preparing supplier payments.
Main responsibilities:
- Customer support: providing support to clients via email or phone regarding account-related enquiries.
- Invoice processing: handling the preparation, processing, and verification of invoices.
- Account reconciliation: assisting in the reconciliation of accounts and resolving any discrepancies, maintaining accurate sales ledgers.
- Credit control: ensuring invoices are paid on time as per the company’s payment terms.
- Assist with audits: helping prepare for and assist during internal and external audits.
- General administrative tasks: supporting the finance team with general office tasks.
Qualifications and skills:
- Education: GCSE English and Maths qualification (or equivalent) is essential. Educated to A-level or equivalent is desirable.
- Experience: previous experience in an administrative or entry-level accounting role is advantageous but not essential.
- Customer service: a positive approach to assisting clients and resolving their inquiries.
- Technical skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Familiarity with accounting software Xero is a plus.
- Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Attention to detail: strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial tasks.
- Organisational skills: ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain thorough records.
- Team player: a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and assisting the finance and operations teams.
- Analytical skills: basic analytical skills to identify and resolve discrepancies.
