Purpose
- To provide the best level of service to customers in accordance with the Company's standards and procedures.
- To assist and support the Management team in all aspects of the business including sales, security, cash and stock control.
- To control and operate a Russells Food & Drink store in the manager's absence in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- To ensure the staff employed at the store carry out duties effectively and in accordance with the Job Profile and Company policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
- To assist and support the Manager in the following:
- Staff training and development.
- Motivating and encouraging the team.
- Stock management.
- Ensuring staff adhere to all Company instructions, policies and procedures in the absence of the manager.
- Ensuring the store is operated in accordance with Company budgets & legal obligations.
- Planning and implementing any changes in promotional activity.
- Administration, for example, investigating cash / stock discrepancies, payroll and marketing.
These responsibilities are in addition to the following:
- To assist in customer relations by maintaining excellent customer service at all times, including an up to date knowledge of store products on display.
- To assume responsibility for housekeeping standards both inside and outside the store according to Company standards.
- To ensure that the premises are safe and secure at all times.
- To comply with the Company regulations with regard to cash handling and administration.
- To comply with all health and safety information and to ensure compliance with all licensing and trading standards legislation.
Qualifications
Essential
- Maths and English GCSE, Grade C or above or equivalent.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Retail / Customer Service.

- Applicants must be 18 years old and over.
- Leadership qualities - to demonstrate the potential to be able to lead a team of people in the absence of the Store Manager and be able to set a positive example.
- Have the ability to sustain consistent performance even under pressure, and willing to take on extra responsibility when required.
- Communication Skills - a proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, demonstrating good written, verbal and listening skills.
- Customer focused - maintains a professional level of customer service at all times; identifies accurately the needs of internal and external customers and works to exceed the customer's expectations by delivering a high quality service.
- Personal Drive and a pleasant, positive and enthusiastic, can do attitude, demonstrating an appropriate level of motivation.
- Good standard of dress and appearance - clean and well groomed.
