Duration: 3 months contract with potential extension
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Interim Head of Strategic Campaign Operations to join the strategic communications function of a globally recognized, research-led institution in central London.
This is a senior, hands-on role focused on campaign delivery, operational planning and cross-functional coordination. You will work across multiple teams and delivery partners to ensure campaigns are effectively planned, communicated and delivered to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both strategic and delivery level β able to manage upwards, influence senior stakeholders and also get directly involved in the detail required to keep campaigns moving.
What We're Looking For
This role would suit someone who can confidently move between strategy and execution β someone who can present to senior leadership, manage upwards and coordinate multiple delivery partners, while remaining close enough to the detail to personally drive campaigns forward.
If you are a strong campaign operator who enjoys getting things delivered, influencing stakeholders and making complex programmes run smoothly, we would like to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of multi-channel communications and marketing campaigns.
- Work closely with delivery partners across the function to ensure campaign activity is coordinated and delivered effectively.
- Develop clear operational plans covering objectives, audiences, timelines, resources and deliverables.
- Coordinate multiple stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure campaigns remain on track.
- Create campaign briefs and audience-led content aligned with the wider communications strategy.
- Manage campaign deliverables to agreed deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and ensure effective communication throughout delivery.
- Manage upwards effectively, providing clear updates, highlighting risks and making recommendations to senior leadership.
- Present campaign plans, progress and recommendations confidently to senior stakeholders.
- Monitor campaign performance, KPIs and budgets, using data and audience insight to inform future activity.
- Act as a campaign guardian, ensuring consistency with agreed brand and campaign guidelines.
- Review and improve existing communications systems, processes and ways of working.
- Support the development and improvement of podcast publishing operations and associated processes.
- Work with external suppliers including creative agencies, podcast producers and designers.
- Collaborate across communications, media, brand and engagement teams to deliver integrated campaigns.
- Champion an audience-first and data-informed approach to communications.
- Take a proactive, hands-on delivery-focused approach, stepping into the detail where required to ensure successful execution.
About You
You will be an experienced communications, marketing or campaign professional with a strong track record of delivering multi-channel campaigns in complex, stakeholder-heavy environments.
