We are seeking an experienced Works Deputy Director to support the successful delivery of a high-profile public sector infrastructure and estates programme. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior construction, commercial, and procurement professional with extensive NEC contract expertise and experience managing complex stakeholder environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of works, commercial, and procurement activities.
- Act as a subject matter expert on NEC contracts, ensuring compliance and effective contract administration.
- Support and oversee procurement activities in accordance with Public Contracts Regulations (PCR 2015) and Procurement Act 2023 requirements.
- Lead and manage teams, providing direction, challenge, performance management, and task oversight.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
- Influence decision-making and manage expectations across a complex governance structure.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme objectives, governance requirements, and commercial best practices.
- Support risk management, contract negotiations, and dispute avoidance strategies.
- Extensive specialist knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts.
- Strong procurement expertise, including PCR 2015 and Procurement Act 2023.
- Experience participating in or managing open procurement dialogue processes.
- Proven leadership experience within commercial, construction, estates, or infrastructure environments.
- Line management and team leadership experience, including performance and task management.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills within highly visible and politically sensitive environments.
- Experience balancing competing priorities and managing expectations among senior stakeholders.
- Experience working within government, parliamentary, public sector, infrastructure, estates, or major capital projects.
- Professional qualifications in construction, engineering, commercial management, procurement, or related disciplines.
