We're looking for an experienced Technical Artist with strong Unity and VFX expertise to join a growing team working on a leading VR gaming project. This is an opportunity to help deliver high-quality visuals while ensuring excellent performance across VR platforms.

Location: Remote (UK)

Contract: Until December 2026

Rate: £35.58/hr PAYE

Responsibilities:

  • Create and implement high-quality visual effects for gameplay and UI
  • Improve and define environment, VFX workflows, tooling, and shaders
  • Develop original textures, meshes, sprite sheets, and technical art assets
  • Contribute to hand-written HLSL shaders and rendering solutions
  • Optimise visuals for mobile and VR platforms
  • Resolve technical, visual, and performance-related issues
  • Collaborate closely with artists, designers, and engineers

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years' experience working with Unity
  • 2+ years' experience as a Technical Artist
  • Strong VFX creation experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Unity tools including:
    • Particle Systems
    • VFX Graph
    • Animations
    • Timelines
    • Nested Prefabs
    • Material Property Blocks
  • Experience creating technical 2D and 3D assets using procedural DCC tools
  • Deep understanding of rendering pipelines and graphics optimisation
  • Experience with hand-written shaders (HLSL)
  • Strong mobile and VR optimisation experience

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience creating original textures, meshes, sprite sheets, and shaders
  • Experience working on VR titles
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating VFX and technical art work
