Senior Finance Analyst (Financial Control & FP&A)
Location: Derby (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Finance Analyst to join the Financial Reporting team within a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation.
This role combines Financial Reporting, Financial Control, and FP&A, supporting Programme Finance Business Partners with forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and governance. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, leading forecasting activities, ensuring robust financial controls, and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of monthly and year-end financial actuals, providing clear analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Partner with Programme Finance Business Partners to deliver financial insight and hold Accounting Period (AP) variance analysis reviews.
- Lead forecasting activities, including:
- Creating forecasting timetables.
- Coordinating inputs from stakeholders.
- Reviewing forecast submissions.
- Producing financial analysis and business insight.
- Supporting Programme Finance teams and FP&A with forecasting queries.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting through robust financial controls, governance, and documentation.
- Lead balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, and assurance activities.
- Manage audit requirements and internal reporting deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting and forecasting processes.
- Mentor and support junior finance team members.
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA accountant (or equivalent).
- Strong experience within Financial Reporting, Financial Control, FP&A, or a similar finance function.
- Monthly and year-end reporting.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Variance analysis.
- Balance sheet reconciliations.
- Financial controls and governance.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience managing complex financial models.
- Working knowledge of SAP, HFM, and/or Oracle Hyperion Planning (OHP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior finance colleagues.
Preferred Industry Background
Candidates from manufacturing, aerospace, aviation, automotive, engineering, or another highly regulated industry will be particularly well suited.

Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a technically strong finance professional who combines financial reporting, FP&A, forecasting, financial control, and stakeholder management, with excellent Excel skills and experience using SAP and/or Hyperion systems. The ability to lead forecasting cycles, mentor junior team members, and drive process improvements will be key to success in this role.
