An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Costs Draftsperson to join our client's busy and expanding Family Department. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in legal aid billing and a keen eye for detail who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit fixed fee and exceptional Legal Aid bills, including High Cost Case Plans.
  • Compile and submit bundles required by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA).
  • Liaise with counsels chambers to ensure claims and fee notes are submitted promptly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with fee earners and third parties to claim all recoverable costs and disbursements.
  • Communicate with clients regarding legal aid billing, as necessary.
  • Serve bills in compliance with procedural rules and cost assessment protocols.
  • Monitor CCMS notifications and ensure timely submissions and responses in line with LAA deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legal aid cost regulations and funding guidance specific to family law.
  • Prepare interim and final private bills of costs.
  • Perform general administrative duties related to billing and file closures.
  • Provide guidance and training to colleagues to enhance best practices in cost recovery.
