Location: Bolton (Newport Street)

Hours: 9.00 am to 5.00 pm – Monday to Friday (1 hour lunch)

Salary: Negotiable depending upon experience

We have a vacancy for a Solicitor to work in our busy Wills & Probate Department. The successful candidate may be required to work at our other branches when necessary and must have a car available for business use. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise the team to ensure work is carried out to the highest standard whilst developing and offering support.

We are specifically looking for someone with knowledge and working experience of advising and preparing Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years PQE or CILEX, the ability to thrive in a busy environment and ambitious to develop the Bolton office. There are opportunities for progression for a candidate who can work independently and is self-motivated and ambitious.

Duties:

  • Run a caseload and effectively maintain and housekeeping the case management system
  • Provide a friendly, knowledgeable and professional service to clients
  • Work as part of a team dealing with elderly clients and grieving families
  • Attend nursing homes and the private homes of elderly clients
  • Take instructions for Wills, Powers of Attorney, Probate/Administration of Estates and Court of Protection
  • Draft documents such as Wills and Powers of Attorney
  • Submit applications to the Probate Registry
  • Ensure any request concerning a work-related matter is undertaken within the agreed timeframe
  • File and maintain accurate and complete files
  • Accurately prepare routine correspondence ready for signature
  • Collate reports and documents, photocopy/scanning as appropriate
  • Meet all deadlines within the agreed timeframe
  • Be proactive regarding career development
  • Develop transferable skills across the business
  • Ensure this key role is valued by the team and the clients

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and technical knowledge regarding Wills, LPAs and testamentary trusts; ideally STEP qualified
  • Strong organisational and attention to detail skills
  • IT skills with full word processing capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage a team
  • Professional telephone manner
  • Ability to work well within a team
