Our client is an innovative SME sized MedTech company focused on developing and delivering cutting edge technology-driven healthcare solutions that improve patient outcomes and enhance clinical efficiency. The organisation operates at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and data, working with healthcare providers, research institutions, and commercial partners. The company is in an important phase of growth which includes the opening of new clinical sites and would like to appoint a fractional CFO/FD with the experience they need to navigate the next 12 to 24 months. The role will be likely 2 days per week and work very closely in a partnership with the MD and Chairman.
The Fractional CFO / FD will provide both strategic financial leadership and hands-on financial oversight to the organisation. They will:
- Work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to shape and deliver the company’s financial strategy.
- Act as a trusted financial partner to the leadership team and help work through the best options for growth.
- Support the company in funding activities, including preparation of financial materials for investors, grant applications, or financing discussions where relevant.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes across the organisation.
- Ensure robust financial processes, internal controls, and governance structures are in place.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to existing finance staff or external finance providers.
The successful candidate will be an experienced financial leader with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a growing, innovation-driven environment.
- Proven experience as a Chief Financial Officer, Finance Director, or senior finance leader and ideally with SME level experience.
- Experience working with growing or scaling companies, ideally within healthcare, life sciences, MedTech, or technology sectors.
- Strong experience in financial planning, financial modelling, and strategic finance.
- Experience supporting board-level decision making and governance.
- Familiarity with funding environments such as venture capital, grant funding, or private investment is desirable.
- Professionally qualified accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Collaborative and pragmatic approach.
