FTE Salary: £44,567 - £50,778

Actual Salary: £7,820 - £8,910 Hourly rate inclusive of holiday pay uplift £24.43 - £27.84

(*Salary inclusive of £2,000 market supplement, starting salary subject to qualifications and years’ experience)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist (OT) to join the team at our new Ashdown Garden School, in Forest Row.

The post holder will provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service to students with complex needs, supporting their sensory processing, self-regulation, independence and overall development through therapeutic intervention. You will play a key role in integrating therapeutic approaches across education, care and daily school life, helping students to access learning and achieve meaningful outcomes.

This includes working closely with the senior leadership team in the development of the school curriculum, braiding the land, seasons, the national curriculum, PSTE (Practical Skills Therapeutic Education) with the insights of Rudolf Steiner, for children and young people with complex learning needs.

The school is aiming to open September 2026 and is based near the Emerson College site near the beautiful Ashdown Forest and the village of Forest Row.

The key duties in this role will include:

  • Deliver Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions in line with EHCP outcomes
  • Plan and deliver individual and group therapy sessions using sensory integration and nature-based approaches, developing programmes to support independence, including activities of daily living, motor skills and self-regulation
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports, annual reviews and EHCP processes
  • Support staff through training and sharing of therapeutic strategies
  • Ensure safeguarding and the wellbeing of all students
  • Contribute to collaborative and multidisciplinary working and whole-school therapeutic practice to embed therapeutic strategies across the provision

To undertake this position successfully you will have:

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Sensory Integration level 2/3 minimum.
  • Range of post-qualification experience in a variety of settings, including Paediatrics and/or Mental Health.
  • Experience of working with autism, learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and social-emotional behaviour.
