About Mill Lodge Hospital
Mill Lodge Hospital is a 32‑bed facility providing specialist mental health care services on behalf of the NHS. Our patients range from 18 years through to older age people. We support all patients with a range of conditions including depression, mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, personality disorder, learning disability and addictions.
About The Role
As a Registered Nurse, you will support the delivery of high‑quality clinical care within a structured and person‑centred environment. You will work as part of the nursing and multidisciplinary team, supporting service users with their physical health, mental health, behavioural needs, clinical care and daily wellbeing.
For newly qualified nurses, the role will include support through preceptorship, with supervision from an experienced nurse preceptor while you develop confidence, clinical competence and leadership skills.
For experienced nurses, the role will include a greater focus on shift leadership, clinical decision‑making, staff support, audits, observations of practice and contributing to effective care governance within the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective and person‑centred nursing care.
- Complete assessments, care planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
- Administer and manage medication safely and in line with policy.
- Monitor service users’ health including observations, NEWS2 and signs of deterioration.
- Maintain accurate, clear and timely records of care.
- Support service users with dignity, compassion and respect.
- Work closely with families, colleagues and external professionals.
- Support safeguarding, infection prevention and health and safety standards.
- Contribute to audits, governance, incident reporting and continuous improvement.
- Support effective shift organisation and safe allocation of staff.
- Maintain professional development and NMC revalidation requirements.

What You’ll Need
- Current NMC registration as RMN, RN or RNLD.
- For newly qualified applicants, completion of a nursing degree and active NMC PIN.
- For experienced nurse applicants, at least 18 months of NMC registration.
- A clear understanding of professional accountability under the NMC Code.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to safe, person‑centred care.
- Confidence in medication management, care planning and clinical record keeping.
- Willingness to complete mandatory training and maintain clinical competence.
