We are currently looking for aHighly Specialist Speech and Language Therapistto join our award-winning multi-disciplinary team atEpinal Way Care Centre in Loughborough. This is a Level 7 role, suited to someone with advanced clinical skills in both speech and language therapy and dysphagia management, and a commitment to service development and staff training.
About the Role
As a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you will:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat a specialist caseload of service users with complex needs, both in inpatient and outpatient (home visit) settings.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate individual and group interventions, including highly specialist dysphagia management.
- Lead in your specialist area of work, providing advice and guidance to colleagues, health professionals, and carers.
- Supervise, train, and assess less experienced speech and language therapists, assistants, and students.
- Participate in and lead audits, service evaluation, research projects, and development of new therapy procedures.
- Source and manage therapy equipment, including communication aids, in line with clinical needs and service protocols.
- Maintain accurate, detailed clinical records and write comprehensive reports for multiple purposes, including progress reviews and discharge summaries.
- Work within Rushcliffe Care Group policies, HCPC and RCSLT professional guidelines, and current legislation.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with service users and carers, including in challenging or distressing situations.
About You
You will need:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy and professional registration with theHCPCand theRoyal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Completion ofRCSLT Level C / EDS Level 5 Specialist Dysphagia Practitioner Competencies.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and specialist training.
- Proven ability to manage a complex caseload independently, using evidence-based practice.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work with service users, carers, and other professionals.
- Confidence in leading training and supporting the development of other staff.
- A flexible, resilient approach and the ability to adapt practice to meet the needs of individuals.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
