Mill Lodge Hospital is a specialist hospital in Kegworth, Leicestershire. The service provides care and rehabilitation for adults aged 18 and over with complex mental health needs, including those detained under the Mental Health Act. The hospital has four wards, each designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment. Facilities include lounges, dining areas, and clinic rooms on each ward. Mill Lodge is set in a peaceful rural location, offering a calm setting for recovery. Our multidisciplinary team includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, and social work, with additional services such as speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, and GP access available according to individual needs. Care is person‑centred, recovery‑focused, and delivered in partnership with patients to help them progress towards independence and community living.
As a Healthcare Assistant at Mill Lodge, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. Working under the direction of qualified nursing staff, you will:
- Assist patients with daily living activities and personal care in line with care plans.
- Support therapeutic activities and meaningful engagement opportunities.
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ presentation or wellbeing.
- Promote dignity, independence, and respect in all aspects of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the wider care team.
- Contribute to a safe environment, following health and safety, safeguarding, and infection prevention procedures.
Shifts are 07:30–20:00 for days and 19:30–08:00 for nights, typically three or four shifts per week across seven days, with the rota issued fairly and four weeks in advance.
You do not need formal qualifications for this role, but you must be willing to complete the Care Certificate as part of your induction. More important is the kind of person you are. We are looking for someone who:

- Shows real commitment by being reliable, adaptable, and motivated to provide the best care possible.
- Can act with professionalism and integrity, setting a positive example for others.
- Has the physical ability to assist with mobility, personal care, and to complete CPI Safety Intervention training (full training provided).
- Wants to grow and develop through training, feedback and new experiences.
