Refuse Collection Driver - The Role:
As an experienced Class 2 driver, you will join the Council's award-winning recycling2go team, working Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:00pm, plus the Saturday before Bank Holiday Mondays. You will lead a small crew in collecting domestic waste and recyclables while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance. Your responsibilities extend beyond standard collections to include glass collections, bulky item collection, and septic tank and cesspool emptying. You will maintain full responsibility for your assigned vehicle and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with all operational requirements.
Refuse Collection Driver - Key Responsibilities:
- Support the recycling2go coordinators and lead your collection team with confidence and assurance - Undertake manual tasks including loading wheeled bins, bags and bulk containers, conducting collections neatly with all spillages cleaned up - Maintain full responsibility for vehicles and equipment assigned to your team, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with the driver's handbook - Conduct suitable risk assessments on site and communicate perceived risks to team members - Report vehicle accidents immediately and complete all relevant paperwork
Refuse Collection Driver - You:
- Hold a full LGV Category 2 driving licence with current DCPC qualification - Have experience of refuse collection, tipping and refuse vehicles, with the ability to lead a collection team
- Demonstrate good customer service skills and can work effectively as part of a team or independently - Comply with Health and Safety at Work Act requirements and council policies
