Grounds Maintenance Operative - The Role:
You will join the Grounds Maintenance Team, undertaking gardening, grass cutting, hedging and various grounds maintenance tasks across the borough. You will maintain our floral displays and green spaces to the highest standard, using a variety of tools and equipment. This role involves working both as part of a team and independently, with direct responsibility for the areas you maintain and reporting any issues that arise.
Grounds Maintenance Operative - Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake gardening, grass cutting, hedging and grounds maintenance tasks to the highest standard
- Maintain equipment and vehicles to expected standards and drive work vehicles to and from sites
- Take ownership of assigned areas, including reporting problems and maintaining professional standards
- Adhere to Health and Safety standards set by Rushcliffe Borough Council
- Assist team leaders and embrace council values in all duties
Grounds Maintenance Operative - You:
- Experience in grounds maintenance works, sports pitch maintenance, and hedge cutting
- Able to operate ride-on mowers, handheld machinery, and tractors; full driving licence required
- Knowledge of manual handling, pesticides application, and basic maintenance and groundwork skills
- Ability to work flexibly in a team or independently, with strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Physically capable of manual work in demanding environments; able to use step ladders and lift heavy equipment
