Rushcliffe Borough Council is looking for a self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic individual to join the Environmental Health Service as an Animal Warden and Pest Control Officer.
Location: Nottingham, NG2 7YG
Salary: £24,903- £31,077 per annum (progression within this paygrade is subject to a competency frame and obtaining BTEC Level 3 certificate for Animal Inspectors)
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week

The Role:
You will work alongside another Animal Warden & Pest Control within the wider Environmental Health Team, dealing with a wide range of animal welfare requests and responding to a variety of requests for the treatment of common household pests. You will also be involved in enforcement work linked to dog fouling, dog related behaviour and animal welfare. In addition, you will be expected to deal with stray dogs.
Key Responsibilities:
- To enforce appropriate legislation in respect of dogs, including the preparation of notices and statements and presentation of evidence in court cases
- To deal with all aspects of stray dogs, including their collection, transport, arrangements for temporary accommodation and adoption
- Participate in a Borough wide educational and advice service to encourage responsible dog ownership
- To keep appropriate records, update the computerised database and undertake any necessary administration relating to the Service's activities
- To carry out inspections of animal welfare related licensed premises, compile reports and related enforcement activity to fulfil the licensing functions of the Council
You:
- Has experience of working within a customer focussed environment
- Is adaptable and capable of dealing with a wide variety of work
- Has good communication skills and is aware of community diversity
- Is self-motivated and possesses a flexible approach towards work
- A BTEC Level 3 certificate for Animal Inspectors would be advantageous but is not essential. If you do not hold this qualification, you will be given the appropriate training and support to achieve it
