Location: Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire

Salary: £27,600-£29,181 per annum

Job Type: Fixed term contract, 18 months

Hours: 37 hours per week

About Us: Rushcliffe Borough Council provides high-quality services to more than 110,000 residents across a borough made up of vibrant towns and stunning villages. Our Council offices are located in West Bridgford, Nottingham in a purpose-built office and leisure centre facility, the Rushcliffe Arena.

Communications Officer - The Role: You will develop and deliver integrated communications, marketing and campaigns that enhance the Council's reputation and engage residents. Working across both external and internal communications, you will create timely, eye-catching content using traditional and emerging media channels. You will be a keen, outgoing communicator who engages staff and stakeholders, whilst supporting the Council through Local Government Reorganisation.

Communications Officer - Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate integrated communications, marketing and campaigns with consistent and innovative branding
  • Create quality engaging content for traditional and digital channels, including copy, video, images and graphics
  • Handle media enquiries, write and edit press releases, prepare articles for publications and proofread materials
  • Contribute to external and internal Council publications and promotional materials from concept through to design and print
  • Build positive relationships with media to promote the Council locally, nationally and in specialist media
  • Update the Council's website and intranet with news stories, content updates and promotional materials
  • Contribute to communications-related Local Government Reorganisation projects

Communications Officer - You:

  • Experience working in a communications or marketing role in the public or private sector
  • Proven experience promoting campaigns or brands to enhance stakeholder reputation
  • Ability to edit high-quality graphic and video content across all channels
  • Excellent written English with strong proofreading and editing skills
  • Creative and persuasive, able to switch tone and style to appeal to different audiences
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and design and video editing software
  • Excellent attention to detail, flexible approach, good team player and outgoing communicator
  • GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language
