A mixed farming enterprise of approximately 2,000 ha in South West Victoria, with convenient access to Ballarat and the surrounding regional centres.


We are seeking a forward-thinking and motivated livestock professional to take a leading role in the management of a well-established and progressive sheep breeding operation. The business integrates cropping with a substantial sheep enterprise comprising both Merino and crossbred flocks. We offer modern stock handling facilities well balanced team environment.


This is a hands-on management role for someone with a genuine passion for sheep production and the ambition to build a long-term future with the business.


THE ROLE


Working closely with the owner and farm manager, you will take ownership of livestock performance across the enterprise and contribute to longer-term breeding, production and business strategy. Key responsibilities include:



  • Day-to-day management of the Merino and crossbred breeding flocks

  • Planning and execution of the joining, lambing, marking, weaning, scanning, shearing and crutching programs

  • Animal health and disease management

  • Pasture and nutrition management to optimise flock performance

  • Flock monitoring and performance recording, including growth rates, wool production and reproductive outcomes

  • Maintenance of accurate livestock records and production data, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Support for cropping operations and general farm activities as required


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


The ideal candidate would :



  • Be a committed individual who is a self- starter, organized and demonstrates enthusiasm, honesty and trust worthiness and ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgement

  • Bring practical experience in sheep production

  • Bring an understanding of sheep nutrition and pasture

  • Have animal health and husbandry skills

  • Have good working dogs Show confidence with technology and data, including proficiency in farm based record keeping ( ie Agriwebb) or a willingness to learn
